SANDRINE AUBERT JOINS ATOMIC

Jul 07, 2010

Sandrine Aubert (29) has made a big step, after two wins in the last winter, to improve her Performance: she switched to Atomic. The success formula Doubledeck technology and Atomic spirit gives Wings, she says in the interview.

What does it mean to you to be part of the world’s most successful ski-team?

A dream has come true for me! The professional approach has enthused me forever. The first vibe on the Atomic D2 Race was sensational. I knew immediately that I can enhance my performance with this technology. The collaboration with Atomic is very close now – as an athlete, I enjoy the fact that my feedback is important and that it flows into the double deck-technology.

Apropos collaboration – you go your own way with your private team, your boyfriend Sam Tissot is your trainer. Why this individual, maybe even stonier path?

Primarily, because it is a decision of lifestyle. I am 28 years old and I want and have to work with people I choose because I respect them as a person and, what is even more important, because I like their ideas. I believe in general that you have to follow your own ideas and not the predetermined routes of other people.

You were scarcely 27 when you won your first out of four World Cup races. Would you generally describe yourself as a late-starter?

In France we’re like red wine – the older the better!

You grew up in the Alps, was therefore your way to become a World Cup professional predestined, or do you have other visions for your future, too?

Of course I have already dreamed to become a ski-champion as a little child. But I have a lot of dreams for my future: to get children, to become a rock star, to sell my paintings, to become a writer…But for a start I’m planning to ski successfully this winter.

What are your goals for the first season with Atomic?

To win, win, win – medals, World Cup globes, races – and all of this with my best skiing-performance ever.
